Three years gone by….

The STOP project recently met in Turin (having sponsored a session at the 2025 European Society for Biomaterials meeting held in Turin) in order to review progress over the last three years since the start of the project, and to prepare reports for the European Commission. A focus of the discussion was upon the field trials which are planned to start in November, testing one or two of the project’s materials on surfaces of several square meters in a realistic potential environment. Having gained a three-month extension to the duration of the project, in order to shift the field trials to the winter months when better statistics (i.e. more infections) are expected than in the summer, the project will now finish at the end of November 2026.
